ANTONIO MARRAS + SABA: DISTANCE AND AFFINITY

When life weaves together the threads of pathways seemingly far away

Lightness of gesture and the poetic sensibility of Saba's colour palette find numerous points of intersection with Antonio Marras's art, who for the occasion of the Salone del Mobile re-interprets the iconic collection of New York couches and lounge chairs, drawing from the charming textile combinations from his pre-collection for autumn-winter 2018/19. Saba through its slight readaption of Marras's prints for furnishings, reproposes maxi flowers, pied-de-poule, tartan and hunting scenes printed on velvet fabrics, linen and woollen cloth.

A part of the collection will be available for purchase exclusively at the Nonostante Marras' space, where there are a series of one-off pieces, diverging with unique painting renditions by the designer.

Distance and Affinity

Antonio Marras has always been a great supporter of collaborations between people and design, art, architecture, fashion, furniture, food; knowledge that influences different areas. Collaboration is essentially an art, a social skill that requires a big heart. The ability to listen, and dialogue with others to create works and results that alone would be something else.

The curiosity that pushes us to explore rather that to avoid possibilities. The creation of meeting points, dialogue, exchange of thoughts and experiences.

Marras loves to trespass in various disciplinary areas and for the Design Week 2018 he does so with thecomplicity of Francesco Maggiore – engineer and president of the Dioguardi Foundation as well as creative director of Kiasmo – with whom he curates the operation "PREMIATA DITTAMARRAS&CO", of which the LONTANANZE E AFFINITÀ project is part of.

A real co-working that for several months has transformed the Nonostantemarras space into a creative laboratory of meetings, ideas and collaborations, leading to a series of partnerships with Italian companies chosen with Archiproducts among the most innovative in the furniture and home accessories sector: Saba, Wall & Decò,Fantin, La Fabbrica del Lino.

Companies recognizable both in the high artisan and qualitative value, and in the formal, expressive and functional result of the products; the capacity for innovation of these companies is found above all in the will to recognize the great Italian historical, artisanal and artistic heritage, as an essential value for the design and manufacture of new products. An indispensable dialogue with tradition and an equally precious search for contemporaneity come together in a refined culture of knowledge and know-how, where art and crafts become inseparable elements of Made in Italy.
